A phenylalanine-free, powdered medical food for the dietary management of phenylketonuria (PKU) in older children and adults, including pregnant women and women of child-bearing age.

Orange flavored version also contains: Artificial Flavor, Citric Acid, Tricalcium Phosphate and 2% or less of each of the following: Tricalcium Citrate, Guar Gum, Xanthan Gum, Artificial Sweetener: Sucralose, Artificial Colors (Beet Red, Beta Carotene).

Preparation & Storage

Use only under the direction of a physician or dietitian. Periflex® Advance must be consumed in conjunction with natural protein, fluid and other nutrients in quantities prescribed by a physician or dietitian to meet protein and general nutrition requirements. Fat, carbohydrate and low protein sources may be used to supply needed calories and to fulfill essential fatty acid requirements.

The recommended intake of Periflex® Advance will vary depending on the age, body weight and medical condition of the individual. Intake is adjusted to maintain normal growth and development. The daily intake of Periflex Advance should be divided into equal portions and distributed throughout the day.

Mixing Instructions
Add prescribed amount of Periflex Advanced to recommended amount of cold water, shake or stir until completely mixed together. For better accuracy, powder should be weighed on a gram scale. Dilution may be adjusted to taste. Once prepared, store formula in a refrigerator for no more than 24 hours from the time of preparation. Shake or stir prepared formula immediately before use. Do not heat, bake or add to food or beverages above 130°F. Best served chilled. Additional fluids should be offered at the same time.

Must only be consumed by older children, teens and adults with proven phenylketonuria while under strict medical supervision. Not intended for children under one year of age. Not suitable as a sole source of nutrition. Not for parenteral use.

Store unopened can at room temperature. Do not store at extreme temperatures. Once opened, reseal can and store in a cool, dry place (not in refrigerator) and use within one month.
