Preparation & Storage

Medical food for the dietary management of maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) in children, teens and adults, including pregnant women and woman of child-bearing age.

Use only under the direction of a physician or dietitian. Complex MSD Amino Acid Blend must be consumed in conjunction with natural protein, fluid and other nutrients in quantities prescribed by a physician or dietitian to meet protein and general nutrient requirements. Fat, carbohydrate and low protein sources may be used to supply needed calories and to fulfill essential fatty acid requirements.

The recommended intake of Complex MSD Amino Acid Blend will vary depending on the age, body weight and medical condition of the individual. Intake is adjusted to maintain normal growth and development. The daily intake of Complex MSD Amino Acid Blend should be divided into equal portions and distributed throughout the day.

Mixing Instructions
Add prescribed amount of Complex MSD Amino Acid Blend to a pre-made flavored beverage or low protein foods of your choice, shake or stir until completely mixed together. Dilution may be adjusted to taste. Once prepared, store formula in a refrigerator for no more than 24 hours from the time of preparation. Shake or stir prepared formula immediately before use. Do not heat, bake or add to food or beverages above 130°F.

Recommended Dilution
Complex MSD Amino Acid Blend - Add contents of 1 scoop or pouch (12.8g) to approx. 6-8 fl oz (180 - 240 mL) of pre-made flavored beverage or MSUD formula.

Must be consumed by individuals with proven maple syrup urine disease (MSUD). Not intended for infants. Not intended as the sole source of nutrition. Not for parenteral use.

Store unopened cans or cases at room temperature. Do not store at extreme temperatures. Once can opened, reseal and store in a cool, dry place (not in refrigerator) and use within one month of opening.
